Three ways to discount

The customer pays the same. Your fees do not.

Price discount

You lower the listed price. Amazon charges referral and fulfillment on that lower price and adds no promotion fee. On Amazon.com this is usually the cheapest way to offer the same amount off.

Coupon

Shoppers clip a coupon. Amazon charges $5 to create it, spread over the redemptions you enter, plus 2.5% of the discounted price on every unit redeemed.

Prime exclusive discount

Prime members see a strike-through price. Amazon charges $100 per campaign. During Prime Day, Big Deal Days, and Black Friday that becomes $100 plus 1.5% of promotional sales, capped at $5,000.

What this estimate leaves out

Referral rates follow Amazon’s US schedule. Most categories are 15%, with a $0.30 minimum in the US and a CA$0.40 minimum in Canada. Canada also prices baby and beauty from CA$15, clothing at 10% under CA$20 and 17% at or above it, grocery from CA$20, jewelry from CA$325, and full-size appliances at 15% up to CA$300. The media closing fee is Amazon.com only.

United States fulfillment is the non-apparel card from January 15, 2026, in ounces and pounds, with three price bands: under $10, $10 to $50, and over $50. Canada uses gram bands, and products under CA$14 pay CA$0.80 less. Europe uses the local envelope and parcel card from July 1, 2026, in grams. Germany uses the Central Europe programme rate. Fuel is 3.5% of fulfillment in the US and Canada, and 1.5% in Europe.

Apparel, extra-large, dangerous goods, storage-utilization surcharges, holiday peak fulfillment, and Europe’s Low-Price FBA programme use other tables. Coupon and Prime exclusive fees use each store’s published schedule. The Netherlands and Belgium have no published Prime exclusive event fee, and only Amazon.com publishes one outside peak events. Figures are planning estimates. Your settlement report is the number Amazon actually charged.

1

Enter the list price and your cost

Use the current Amazon list price and your landed product cost. Add inbound postage, FBM shipping, ads, or storage under Shipping and other costs when you want them in the profit.

2

Choose the category and how the order ships

The category sets the referral fee. FBA adds the fulfillment fee for the size tier and shipping weight you pick. Merchant-fulfilled orders skip the FBA fee.

3

Set the discount

Enter a percent or an amount off. The same discount is priced three ways: a price cut, a coupon, and a Prime exclusive discount.

4

Compare profit per unit

Each card shows what the customer pays, Amazon’s fees, and your profit. Open a card for the full breakdown, including how the $5 coupon fee and the $100 Prime exclusive fee are spread across your units.

Amazon profit calculator questions

Is this Amazon profit calculator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser and does not require an account. Enter a list price, your product cost, the category, and the FBA size tier. The calculator estimates profit per unit and compares a price discount, a coupon, and a Prime exclusive discount.

Which Amazon fees are included?

Referral fees by category, and FBA fulfillment for the store you pick. The United States uses the non-apparel ounce and pound card from January 15, 2026, plus a 3.5% fuel surcharge. Canada uses gram bands, with CA$0.80 off when the price is under CA$14, and the same 3.5% fuel surcharge. The UK and EU stores use the gram envelope and parcel card from July 1, 2026, plus a 1.5% fuel surcharge. Coupon and Prime exclusive fees follow each store. On Amazon.com, a coupon adds $5 spread over the units you enter, plus 2.5% of the discounted price, and a Prime exclusive discount adds $100 per campaign, plus 1.5% of promotional sales during peak events, capped at $5,000. Canada charges CA$2 per coupon plus 1.5%. The UK charges £2 plus 0.75%, Germany €4 plus 0.75%, and the other EU stores €2 plus 0.5%, each with a cap. Outside the US, the Prime exclusive fee is priced for peak events. You can add your own shipping, ads, prep, or storage as a per-unit cost.

What is the difference between a price discount, a coupon, and a Prime exclusive discount?

A price discount lowers the listed price. Referral and fulfillment are charged on the lower price, and Amazon adds no promotion fee. A coupon is clipped by the shopper: the customer pays the discounted price, and Amazon also charges the coupon fee. A Prime exclusive discount (a price exclusive to Prime members) shows a strike-through price for Prime shoppers and carries a $100 campaign fee, with an extra 1.5% during Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days, and Black Friday.

Does the discount reduce the referral fee?

Yes in this calculator. The referral fee is estimated on what the customer pays after the discount, including shipping the customer pays, and excluding tax. The minimum referral fee for the category still applies. The extra cost of a coupon or a Prime exclusive discount is the promotion fee, not a higher referral rate.

How do I pick the FBA size tier?

Pick the store first. On Amazon.com, small standard is up to 15 × 12 × 0.75 inches and 16 ounces, and large standard is up to 18 × 14 × 8 inches and 20 pounds. Shipping weight there is the greater of packed weight and dimensional weight in inches (length × width × height ÷ 139). In Canada and Europe the list is envelopes, parcels, and oversize, and you enter shipping weight in grams. Europe parcels use dimensional weight in centimetres (length × width × height ÷ 5,000). Apparel, extra-large, and heavy oversize use other rate cards.

Are storage, returns, and holiday peak fees included?

Not automatically. Monthly storage, inbound placement, low-inventory-level fees, return processing, and refund administration fees depend on your inventory and return rate. Add them under Shipping and other costs if you know the per-unit amount. Holiday peak fulfillment, from October 15 to January 14, averages about $0.32 more per unit than these non-peak rates and is not added here.

Which Amazon marketplace is this for?

The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Size tiers and shipping weight follow that store: ounces and pounds in the US, grams in Canada and Europe. Germany uses the Central Europe programme fulfillment rate. Referral percentages are the US schedule, with Canada’s published differences for the minimum and for baby, beauty, clothing, grocery, jewelry, and full-size appliances. Confirm any figure that matters in Seller Central before you buy inventory or launch a promotion.
